Much learning and development has taken place since our last post. We have 300 plants that have produced one small harvest. This summer we planted 1300 new plants. We fine tuned our process of getting plants into the ground and should save ourselves much time next year. However, I hope we don’t have to plant such a large amount. with only the two of us planting, it was heavy work.
After the plants were in the ground finally, we discovered some precious jewels on the place-wild plums and muscadine grapes. I began a new journey into making jelly. While this seems easy to most, I have never done this nor had anyone in my family teach me. It was truly a blast – eventhough my first batch came out like syrup haha. I plan to make this area available to pick your own next year when the lavender blooms. We also have several (I do mean beyond several) wild blackberry bushes (dewberries). I so love Texas!
Will update with some pictures in the next blog
